PhD and Master’s Positions in Soft Tissue Mechanics
The LESION (CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM BIOMECHANICS) Laboratory at the University of Mississippi's Department of Biomedical Engineering is seeking graduate students (PhD, MSc).
The LESION Lab aims to develop imaging and modeling tools for the understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of central nervous system disorders, with a particular focus on diseases related to the eye and brain, such as glaucoma and traumatic brain injury.
Ideal candidates will possess a strong background in solid/fluid mechanics and finite element modeling. Experience with imaging (such as microscopy, AFM, OCT, or ultrasound) and image processing (DIC, DVC, or segmentation) is a plus, but not mandatory.
The expected start date for this position is August 2023. Please note that all applications must be submitted through the Department of Mechanical Engineering, as the graduate program in the Department of Biomedical Engineering is currently unavailable.
To complement your official application, please email Dr. Hua at yhua@olemiss.edu with the following documents:
- A detailed letter of motivation, which is critical for your application to be considered
- A detailed CV highlighting your technical skills and laboratory experience
- Contact information for two references
- University transcripts (informal)
Thank you for your interest in the LESION Lab, and we look forward to hearing from you soon.
