Postdoc openings at UC San Diego

Three postdoctoral positions in computational mechanics, structures and material optimization, artificial intelligence, and heat transfer at the University of California San Diego.

We are seeking highly motivated Postdoctoral Researchers for three positions in the Center for Dreams (http://dreams.ucsd.edu/) and the Multiscale Multiphysics Design Optimization Laboratory (http://m2do.ucsd.edu/) at UC San Diego. The starting dates vary, with the earliest available immediately and the latest starting in early 2024. 

Those with one or more interests in the following areas with passion for computational engineering are encouraged to apply:

• Topology optimization

• Video/image denoising diffusion models

• Artificial intelligence and machine learning

• Nonlinear computational mechanics (e.g. Finite element analysis, IGA)

• Computational Fluid Dynamics / heat transfer

• Solid mechanics

• Wave propagation / dynamics / nonlinear dynamics

• Metamaterials theory / simulation

• Multiscale mechanics

• Lightweight structures

• Aerospace engineering

One of the three positions also has an hands-on element, contributing to building an aircraft model, inviting US persons applications only.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or related fields (or expected completion by the starting date).

• Strong programming skills (e.g., Python, C++, or similar).

• Proven track record of research excellence, demonstrated through publications in reputable conferences and journals.

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.

• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
