Post-doc position open in impact response of materials
We have a post-doc position, possibly two, open in the area of "Dynamic Response of Advanced Materials". The post-doc researcher is expected to develop novel experimental methods and use them to characterize the mechanical responses of a variety of advanced materials ranging from high-performance fibers to high-strength ceramics over wide ranges of strain rates, temperatures and stress states. Research emphasize is on experimental side. The dynamic loads for the experiments are typically supplied by drop-weight, Hopkinson bars, or gas guns. The successful candidate will join a vibrant group of graduate students and other researchers working on a variety of projects in High-rate Response of Materials. A Ph.D. or equivalent degree in engineering or science in a related discipline is required. Background in experimental mechanics, experience in high-rate phenomena, and publications in international journals are highly desirable.
