EMI/PMC 2024, Chicago, IL, 2024 – MiniSymposium #0103 “Mechanics of granular materials: Modeling and characterization”

A mini-symposium on the Mechanics of granular materials: Modeling and characterization at EMI/PMC 2024 (https://www.emi-conference.org/) will take place in stunning heart of Chicago, Illinois from May 28-31, 2024.  This mini-symposium will present advanced modeling/simulations, analytical methods, theoretical and experimental approaches to understand mechanics of granular materials and other porous matter. The scope of the mini-symposium pertaining to granular materials is broad, for example, topics of interest include but are not limited to the following: (1) range of loading conditions, from static, dynamic to extreme; (2) heterogeneous materials; (3) grain-scale morphological effect; (4) multi-physics and multi-scale response ranging from particle scale to macroscale; (5) damage and breakage process; (6) chemical processing; (7) particle interaction; (8) continuum mechanics or analytical micromechanics-based or machine-learned / artificial intelligence methods. State-of-the-art methods or innovation approaches to address mechanics of granular materials are especially encouraged to exchange their ideas and research outcome. Simulations that map processing-related heterogeneities to material properties and performance in extreme dynamic environments are encouraged, as well. We welcome your research and solution to challenges in granular materials with related application in the field of engineering mechanics. We encourage your research group to submit an abstract to this mini-symposium. You may pass the information about this Special Session to other colleagues of yours that might be interested. Please submit an abstract (limit 400 words) to mini-symposium #0103 Mechanics of granular materials: Modeling and characterization. Abstract submission is open until December 31, 2023, available at https://www.emi-conference.org/call-abstracts
