Seeking for a postdoctoral position in vibration control with piezoelectric material! Got one at last!
I am a Ph.D. student in Department of Aeronautical Structural Engineering. I expect to receive my PhD degree in July 2009 from Northwestern Polytechnical University. This university features as a top 10 engineering universities in China. My dissertation is on active/passive vibration control with piezoceramics. Part of my work has been published in an international peer-reviewed journal (“Vibration suppression of a hard disk driver actuator arm using piezoelectric shunt damping with a topology optimized PZT transducer” in Journal of Smart Materials and Structures).
Since January, 2004, I have been a leader in a research group on smart structures. The group is one of the major research groups at National Specialty Laboratory of Dynamics and Strength. It consists of 3 PhD students and 5 master students. Our research broadly aims at smart materials in aeronautical structure, with applications such as active/passive flutter/ buffet control, noise reduction, and adaptive structure design. The group was funded by China National Natural Science Foundation. The objective is to use piezoceramics to control the microvibration of precision mechanism, such as read-write head of hard disk. As the project leader, I guided the team to investigate the passive, semi-active, adaptive and switching damping techniques by using piezoelectric material. Within the past 5 years, we have developed a construction method by optimizing parameters in the shunt circuit and material/structure parameters of piezoelectric elements. The validity of this method is testified by extensive vibration control experiments carried out in our team. We also proposed an implementation strategy of piezoelectric shunt damping system for practical engineering applications.
My research interests include structural vibration control with passive, semi-active and APPN piezoelectric shunt circuits; electric energy techniques with piezoelectric material. Moreover, I am also interested in system design, static analysis and dynamic analysis, especially for dynamic mechanism; material property test, static test and mode test.
I hope that my research background can meet your general requirements as a postdoctoral fellow in your lab. My strong motivation and rich research experiences will make me a qualified member of your group. Your insightful guidance and generous help will make me progress greatly. If you are interested, please contact me by the email sunhao@mail.nwpu.edu.cn. I am more than willing to discuss any questions concerning my application and research. Thank you for your consideration.
With kinds regards,
