Analytical derivation on the stress of the adhesive layer based on beam/plate therories?

I just came across the lecture notes from Professor Nix on Mechanical Properties of Thin Films. It is very educative and helpful. I wonder if anyone could recommend some analytical derivation on the stress of the adhesive layer between two similar/dissimilar adherends (sandwiched specimen) under mechanical or thermal loading.

E Suhir published a number of papers on this subject. He used classical beam theory involving some assumptions to derive pretty useful solutions for adhesive peeling and shear stress for the sandwiched beam under thermal load.

It is known that beam theories based on E-B assumptions fell short for accurately predicting the stresses within a composite beam. A general-purpose cross-sectional analysis tool, VABS   can actually reproduce 3D FEA stress results without the computational cost associated with 3D FEA.
