We are looking for a Ph.D. student in our Multiscale Mechanics & Physics (MMP) Lab to begin in September 2011 or earlier in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department at University of Texas at Arlington. Candidates with a MS degree will be preferred, particularly those with background in solid mechanics, nanomechanics, atomistic modeling and finite element analysis. Exceptional students with BS degrees will also be considered. Interested students should contact me at aadnan@uta.edu with their short resume and 1-2 sample publications (if available).

My research group is interested in the physics and mechanics of nano/bio materials and their applications in innovative nano/bio devices. Our current projects focus on the: (i) nanoscale transport phenomena in pharmaceutical, biomedical and biological systems, (ii) mechanics of nanodefects and their applications in nanodevices, (iii) multifunctional and advanced materials for structural applications.
