Position for Post-doc. researcher in Computational Plasticity/Metal forming at POSTECH, South Korea

Post-doctoral Researcher Positions

The Graduate Institute of Ferrous Technology (GIFT), located in South Korea, is an English language academic initiative initiated by Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) to address the need of the basic commodity materials industry for outstanding professionals specialized in metallurgical and mechanical engineering technologies. The Institute has the ambition of leading the world in all aspects of the science of advanced steel products and processing. We have immediate openings for candidates with background in the area of metal plasticity, finite element modeling, constitutive modeling in the Materials Mechanics Laboratory (MML). More information can be obtained from http://www.postech.ac.kr or http://gift.postech.ac.kr

The selected candidate will perform research in the area of high strain rate forming of steels, in particular for advanced steels (AHSS, stainless steel, etc.). He/she is also expected to be involved in the areas of constitutive modeling of advanced high strength steels as well as finite element simulations of forming processes and product performance. If the candidate has experience on characterization of material properties with Split Hopkinson Bar test, it is highly recommended to apply.

Candidates must hold a doctoral degree, preferably in mechanical engineering or materials science but suitable candidates holding an advanced degree in other, closely related, fields are encouraged to apply. Interested candidates should respond with a cover letter, CV including a list of publications, and at least one letter of recommendation to Prof. Myoung-Gyu Lee (mglee@postech.ac.kr)
