You are here
combining Abaqus/Standard and Abaqus/Explicit?
Wed, 2010-12-22 19:24 - Ahmad Falahatpisheh
How can I run an analysis that starts in Abaqus/Standard and can be continued in Abaqus/Explicit? Does Abaqus automatically take care of data exchange between them or it should be manual. In other words, can I define step1 in a model run by Abaqus/Standard then immediately running step2 under Abaqus/Explicit?
Thanks,

Hi, Never tried using
Hi,
Never tried using abq/standard and abq/explicit consecutively, but here is what you are looking for:
http://www.simulia.com/products/abaqus_explicit.html
Hoping that it will help. Found the link by using google keywords "abaqus standard and explicit consecutively" . Other results are also available, so check it out...
Regards...
Possible, but you should be careful
Hello,
I have done it, it is possible, but you should be careful. Some things cannot be imported from Standard to Explicit and vice versa. Some things (e.g. BC, contacts) should be new defined. The Users Manual gives you al the details you need. It is often used for metal forming (explicit) with springback (implicit).
