Due to their large deformation capability, electroactive polymers are promising materials for several engineering applications. They can be used, for example, as actuators and sensors in artificial muscles, biomedical devices, microrobots, pumps, valves, etc. The research in this emerging field focuses in the multiphysics modeling of electroactive polymers and combines many aspects of structural mechanics, composite materials (for modeling composite electroactive polymers), and failure mechanisms of structural components and materials.

We are looking for Postdoctoral Fellows with computational mechanics background specializing in one or more of these areas: solid mechanics, wave-structure interaction, fatigue and corrosion induced structural damage.
