The Department of Civil, Chemical and Environmental Engineering (DICCA) of the University of Genoa (UNIGE) is offering a post-doc position within the 2-years reasearch project PRIN PNRR 2022 “A digital framework for the cutting of soft tissues: A first step towards virtual surgery” focused on multiscale modeling of the complete cutting process in human brain tissues.

We are building a team of exceptional researchers who are driven by passion and curiosity and are excited by fundamental questions about physics of solids. Our lab operates at the intersection of mechanics, data science, material science and biology, and applied mathematics. Current areas of interest include:

With Ondřej Rokoš, we are looking for a postdoc to work with us on the computationally-driven design of pneumatically actuated microstructures with applications in active mechanical metamaterials (with sensing capabilities) and soft robotics. To achieve this goal, the project aims to develop new topology optimization techniques combining pressure actuation, internal contact, and multi-stability.
