I am trying to model a rubber impregnated fabric as rebar in Abaqus Standard. It seems that the rebar is only good in uniaxial tension load and it causes convergence problem in bending and compression loading. The fabric and rubber matrix has a compressive strength and that is critical to the model that I am analyzing. What would be a good approach to include compression on fabric rebar? The compressive strength of fabric matrix should be an order of magnitude lower than the tensile strength but I do not have a test data in compressive loading.
Hello everyone,
Here is the problem I have: I'm modeling the geometry of a simple straight edge crack in a 2D elastic medium using Abaqus. I assume plain stress conditions. The crack makes an angle with the horizontal, is small enough to be considered as embedded in an infinite domain (ratio crack length/size of domain < 1/10) and I apply a vertical compressive load on top of my domain. I fixed one point in displacement at the bottom of it and the whole bottom edge is constrained not to move vertically.
Hi, I am Ramy, I am about to perform some analyses on laterally loaded pile groups in sandy soils, does anyone have any idea about the best constitutive model to use?, loading is static. And I am using PLaxis 3D foundations version 2.1 Regards, Ramy

hi...i am doing drilling simulation on abaqus....
it consist of two parts...a tool and a blank....
now when i am running analysis...tool touches the blank and goes back.
i checked material data...density,elasticity...and i used surface to surface interaction with penalty as interaction property.... is there any other data that i need to include....???if yes then how....
can any one tell me ...
Hello Everyone,
My research is in petroleum geomechanics and I am Using Abaqus for my simulations of cracks and induced fractures in rocks around the wellbore I do have some problms and I will be happy if anybody can assist me:
1- I am interested in looking at Hoop stress at evry point around the wellbore ,but in Abaqus I can only see that in degrees of 0,90,180,270 of circular wellbore by using S1 and S2 ,naybody has a code or experience with that?
2-What is a correct method if we are interested in propping our fractures?
Hi everybody, I'm so interested in analysis of wave propagation in solid medias. and I've started by studying some books like "Ultrasonic wave propagation in solid media"(Rose). My question is about the importance of this analysis (propagation of high frequency elastic waves) in the structures. I know that the major application is in the field of Nondestructive Testing(NDT). but I don't know if it is usefull in vibrational analysis of mechanical structures (elastic waves with frequencies around KHz or MHz). is this study important in "dynamic response analysis" of mechanical structures in some special kind of loading like impact? I'd be gratefull if you could introduce me some examples.
