composite modeling

i'm try to do this model by abaqus and i faced some problems.any help is appreciated.

it is a 3 layers plates,a viscoelastic material sandwich between 2 steels.any kind of help,e.i,papers,thesis or notes etc are

welcome.

i modeled the 2 steel as sheel 'S8R"and the rubber as contiuum  "c3d20r",rubber is not thin.

 

 

poissons ratio effect on Stress intensity factor

Hi :

I am obtainning the Stress Intensity factors along the front of cracks in a 3D FE models (ANSYS). The loading mode is mixed and Ki, Kii and Kii should be estimated. I have noticed that the SIF  strongly depends on the poisson's ratio but i understand Ki does not depends on the elastic properties of material. I know ANSYS calculates the SIF from the displacements at the crack tip using E and mu, but i did not expect so huge differences in SIF values, In fact all analytical predictions for SIF does not depends on poisson's ratio....

Ansys Ls-Dyna

I am using
Ansys Ls-Dyna to solve a case where a rigid indentor in the shape of bow
penetrates double skinned structural models. I want to use UPF (User
Programmable Features)
in order to define a custom failure criterion. From the “Guide
to Ansys User Programmable Features” I read that the specific subroutine (usrfc6)
for defining custom failure criteria is available only with shell99, solid46
and shell91
. However in Ansys Ls-Dyna, the user cannot use neither of the above
shell elements. The only shell element that is used in explicit dynamics is
shell163. Is there any way to program or use my failure criterion in Ansys

GROWTH of NANOTUBE

              I have read your post and came to know that you are using
DL_POLY for nano simulation. I am beginners in the field of MD. I am
using DL_POLY_3. Can you please tell me that is it possible to simulate
the GROWTH of NANOTUBE using DL_POLY?

I just joined. found you by chance..you should advertise you know..! I do some modeling of tissue deofrmation and diffusion and stuff. I need to find a chapter of the book "Porous Media: Theory, Experiments and Numerical Application". does anybody have an electronic copy of it or know a free resource where I can find it?
