The Society of Engineering Science is pleased to announce the award of the 2018 society medals and fellow election:

The 2018 G.I. Taylor Medal of SES is awarded to Howard Stone, Princeton University, for seminal contributions to fluid dynamics research and education, particularly the understanding of low Reynolds number flows, microfluidics, interfacial phenomena, and biological fluid dynamics.

Two PhD positions are available in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Science at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
The research project is in the multiscale modeling of the stress corrosion cracking. Candidates should have a strong background in continuum mechanics, finite elements modeling and/or molecular dynamics simulations. Programming experience in Fortran or C++ is a big plus. The starting date for this position is January 2018 or August 2018. The conference this year is hosted by Northwestern University and will be held at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare in Chicago from June 4 to June 9, 2018.

The Biomechanics Research Centre at the National University of Ireland, Galway are seeking expressions of interest for several funded-PhD positions in computational modelling of polymer- and metal-based bioresorbable vascular scaffolds, as part of a larger EU Horizon-2020 consortium project.
