Responsibilities and Requirements:

·       Conduct full-time teaching and research in the disciplines of civil & environmental engineering. Those with multidisciplinary backgrounds are also welcome.

·       Obtained a PhD degree from an internationally renowned university.

The current technologies of 3D printing have huge potential in the domain of printing flexible electronics and direct write printing on curved surfaces. In this project we want to explore such technologies to print electronics on curved surfaces. We would experiment with various kinds of printing solutions for the fabrication of printed electronics onto arbitrary non-flat surfaces. We would test the feasibility of printing with various kinds of multi-axis printing platforms like syringe/extrusion printing, aerosol jet printing etc.

Project title: Micromechanical modeling of geomaterials by considering the microstructural anisotropy

Starting date and duration: September/October, 2018, 3 years

Candidates: First-class undergraduate and master degrees in mechanics, applied mathematics, civil engineering or other related disciplines. The candidates should be motivated by research in theoretical and numerical modeling and have a good background in mathematics, mechanics of materials, finite element method, etc.

A position is available to work on a combined analytical, numerical and experimental study of uniform elastic rods in two contexts:

1)  the characterisation of helical equilibria, including stability properties, in both the cases of self-avoiding and self-contacting configurations,

and

2) the equilibria of knots in the presence of friction.
