Applications are invited for a Ph.D. studentship in the Departments of Aeronautics. The research project will be supervised by Dr V.L. Tagarielli and Prof F. Montomoli and it will involve collaboration with Baker Hughes (Florence, Italy) and the Brahmal Vasudevan Institute for Sustainable Aviation.

Urgent - EU PhD student needed: Modelling of the mechanical and electrical response of composite materials

Submitted by v.tagarielli on

We are looking for a PhD researcher to work at numerical simulations of the electro-mechanical response of nano-reinforced polymers. The position is fully funded including tuition fees and a competitive maintenance/salary (of approximately 3k euros/month), as well as additional benefits for those with a family. The researcher will work towards a PhD in Mechanics of Composites at Imperial College London, Department of Aeronautics, under the supervision of Dr V.L. Tagarielli and Dr S.T. Pinho and in collaboration with several research groups in London and across Europe.

Dear modellers

do you work with electrostrictive polymer actuators and need their properties for your simulations? If so, you will find the paper below interesting: we have tested the most popular material for EAP applications.
