The 20th European Conference on Fracture (www.ecf20.no) will be held at Trondheim, in Norway on 30 June - 4 July 2014. We are inviting abstracts in the areas of fracture and fatigue at all scales! The deadline for abstract submission is 4 October, 2013.

The Department of Structural Engineering, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) announces a vacant PhD position and a vacant post doctoral position in the area of multi-scale modelling of mono-sized polymer particles. The two positions will be a part of the new NANOMAT KMB project “From Molecular Structures to Mechanical Properties: Multi-scale Modelling for Polymer Particles (MS2MP)”, funded by the Research Council of Norway.

The Kavli Prize – three international awards for outstanding contributions to the fields of nanoscience, neuroscience and astrophysics – will be awarded for the first time in 2008. The Kavli Foundation has established these international awards to recognize seminal advances in scientific research. Each prize will consist of a scroll, a medal and a cash award of USD 1 million.
