Behaviourof non linear material under a load

Submitted by arjunkarun on

I am currently working on developing a model of flexible pavement. The middle layer is having a non linear elasticity property. So the elastcity of the different parts of the layer varies with the stress applied. The process continues till the Elasticty stabilises. Can anyon please help me with its implementation in ANSYS APDL?

Visualizing LAMMPS molecular dynamics trajectories using visual molecular dynamics (VMD)

Submitted by Nuwan Dewapriya on

It is very important to visualize molecular dynamics (MD) trajectories since there are many aspects of MD simulations which are difficult to identify without a proper visualization tool. Improper bounday condition in MD is one of such examples. I use Visual Molecular Dynamics (VMD) to visualize my MD simulations. Some of my movies, created using VMD, are shown below.

how to model masonry wall in abaqus

Submitted by eng.femiran on

here we are to tell you how we can model masonry in abaqus cae.
there are 3 ways:
1-micro modeling
2- macro modeling
3- micro-macro modeling(HOMOGENIZATION)
micro modeling;
in this method all parts should be modeled in abaqus separately.
but notice that don't use shell to modeling grout because of 3d properties of grout and cohesive characteristics.
this method is suitable for small masonry panels with 2-3 layers of brick.

Abaqus Standard /General contact with penetration

Dear Colleague,

I am running Abaqus Examle Problems Manual 1.1.18 - The self contact on rubber gasket.

I tried to convert the self contact and surface contact definition to a general contact definition. However, the rigid surface just penatrate the model like this shown below.

Left image is the result for the inp from manual. The right one is the result for compuation with general contact.

Does somebody here want to discuss or maybe explain this for me ?

Thank you in advance.

Shape Functions of a Constant Strain Tetrahedron

Submitted by mohammedlamine on

Hello,

I have developped a New Method to Compute Numerically the Shape Functions of a Constant Strain Tetrahedron from the Geometrical Information of its Vertices using the Planes' Equations Defining the Barycentric Coordinates versus the Cartesian Coordinates. The Algorithm for Solving the Linear Systems of Equations has been Implemented Efficiently with the Partial Pivoting Gauss LU Method for any arbitrary Shaped and Non-Degenerated Element.
