Abaqus Subroutine and python subscripting

Submitted by rajnish0007 on

Dear All,

I was wondering if anyone used abaqus user subroutines to couple the micro and macro models? If any one has used it and is also willing to share the knowledge?

I am looking for some guidance on how to run another *inp and get it's out put in the subroutine. any example on this is greatly appreciated.

Tenure-track Faculty Position at NC State

Submitted by Murthy N. Guddati on

The Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering (CCEE) at North Carolina State University (NCSU) expects a tenure track faculty position to be filled in the area of Structural Engineering and Mechanics. Exceptional candidates in all areas within structural engineering and mechanics are encouraged to apply; applicants with expertise in modeling of structural systems or materials are of particular interest.

Steady State Dynamics Vs Implicit Dynamics

Hello all,

There has been
much debate about the difference between Implicit and Explicit Dynamics. I was
wondering what exactly is the difference between 'Implicit Dynamics' and 'Steady
State Dynamics (SSD)' steps in Abaqus though it has been explained a bit in the
manuals.

Recent paper on the flattening deformation of metal columns

Submitted by Seyed Ahmad Elahi on
This paper presents a theoretical and
experimental study on lateral compression of square and rectangular metal
columns. Some theoretical relations are derived to predict the absorbed energy,
the specific absorbed energy and the instantaneous lateral load during the
lateral compression. Analytical relations are obtained in two stages: elastic
and plastic parts. In the plastic zone, the total absorbed energy by the column
is calculated, based on the energy method. Then, an analytical equation is
derived to predict the instantaneous lateral load. In the elastic part, the
instantaneous load is obtained by linear behavior assumption. To verify the

Abaqus python scripting, booleanmerge section assignment

Submitted by sina_khodaie on

Hey,

I am writing a python script for modeling aggregates in a concrete cylinder. I have created a all the particles and and specified section properties to them and to the  cylinder.

The procedure I am using is to merge the particles and the cylinder while retaining the boundaries. If the sctions are assigned to the parts before merging, the result is the cylinder with the specified section assignmentsfor each part.

I wrote the code in python but seems like it does not include the section assignment to the new part from merge.
