The Fidesys Online web service allows to carry out deformation mode
analysis for articles under static loads. You will need only web browser
and Internet connection. Now it's easier than ever.

a question about vibration of plates having variable thickness

Submitted by sayad.boreyri on

Hi everybody!

for plates with constant thickness and two opposite sides simply-supported B.Cs, we can write w(x,y)=f(y)*sin(m.Pi.x) and solving the problem from this viewpoin.

I wonder whether this approach is true for plates with (linearly) variable thickness?

many thanks

Frequency analysis of space frame with distributed mass

Submitted by George Papazaf… on

Dear all,

I want to do a frequency analysis of a 3d frame which has three beam elements (2 columns and one beam). There are no lumped masses in the model. I want to assign mass to all three elements equal to m per unit length of the members.

When I assigned nonzero density in the beam section definition (equal to m/A, where A is the cross section area),

When I changed from beam elements into frame elements

When I changed from beam of linear geometric order to beam of quadratic geometric order (standard element libraries)

UMAT for Rousselier damage model

Submitted by Sutham_eng on

Dear everyone,

Now, I am trying to write Abaqus user defined subroutine(UMAT) for Rousselier damage model, but I don’t know how to define the consistent tangent modulus (the Jacobain) for this model.

Could anyone please give me some information or suggest to me how to determine the equation of this term (Jacobian) ?

Thank you very much indeed

how to define cohesive element property? because the cohesive element layer is our imaginary

Submitted by hanrrycn on

I'm modeling rock fracture problem with cohesive element. I konw the propertiey of the solid element around the fracture because we can measure it (rock sample) in the lab. but as regard to how to define the propeties of cohesive element, I'm completely lost.

in fact, the cohseive element is a fictitious one, not a real matearial in the physical world, we can't mearsure its propety by physical means. then how can we know what parameters we should enter ?

need your help, thanks

Modelling SMA embeded in composite beam

Submitted by erismy1 on

How to model SMA wire embeded in composite beam using Abaqus using 3D solid extrusion?

The model is cantilever beam of composite in which the SMA wire is embeded in neutral axis of the beam.

I only simulate deflection.

The simulation without SMA has been succesfully done which show deflection when applied load at the tip( free end)
