Vuhard

Submitted by raushan on

hello

i am using modified JC model for the simulation of segmented chip formation in machining of Ti64 alloy and i wrote a VUHARD subroutine for that, but two problem arises,

1.the simulation stops at higher value of frictional co-efficient and

2.the feed force is under predicted

since i didn't use dyieldDeqps,is it necessary?

plz help!

thanx a ton in advance!!

Fracture toughness analysis of composites

Submitted by Raman Patil on

Hello,

I am doing my thesis on fracture toughness analysis ofcomposite material. Basically my work is to estimate stress intensity factorwhen reinforcement particle is very near to crack tip.  I am using ANSYS for modeling and meshing.

I need help in selection of element type for crack tip, matrix material and reinforcement particle. And how to calculate KIc forcomposite material???

Thank you.

return map algorithm

Submitted by UMAT on

Dear all,

I am trying to code a UMAT subroutine for perfect plasticity with a Tsai-Wu failure surface. I follow the procedure of the closest point projection in Simo & Hughes, Box 3.5, which is quite straight forward. At least I thought so

The algorithm converges but unfortunately not to the correct point in the (plane-stress) stress space. At first I used an yield surface wich gives a unit sphere in the stress space. It is easy to control the normality of the plastic strain increment and the return-map algorithm is implified to a radial return algorithm.

Smoothed-particle hydrodynamics (SPH) Help

Submitted by Peter M on

  Hi,

I'm a student and now I'm at the beginning of studying the SPD method for my Master thesis. I found a lot of theory on the internet and in books, but what I would need are some solved basic examples (like in the Bathe FE procedures book for example) to see how does it "work". I someone could help me I would be realy gratefull.
