damping of wood
Hi
is damping of wood, function of frequency?
I mean the wood damping is frequency dependent or no?
if yes, any body can help me to find a reference for numerical data of wood damping as a function of frequency?
thanks alot

Hi,
In order to model a jacket supported by four piles I need to model the interaction between soil and piles in ANSYS ASAS-NL. As I want to make a trasient analysis I use ASAS-NL which unfortunately do not interact with SPLINTER. The jacket structure is modelled by 3D beam elements. Can someone tell me how I model the soil pile interaction? Is it possible to make use of P-Y and T-Z curves in ASAS-NL?
Greetings, I have used I-Deas previously, and purchased ADINA 900 Nodes to attempt a similar project. However, I have not been able to find an answer to a simple question. Namely, I have created a parametric equation for a parabolic shell, and I would like to see it appear in the graphic window. I will post the file in a response line.
Hi,
I am new to abaqus scripting. I need some help with accessing the odb for history output.
I have a list of odbs and i need to take the displacement and contact stresses information at the end of the step.
The syntax i tried was
import odbAccess
fileName = 'static_open_c1.odb'
stepName = 'Load'
historyRegionName = 'Node HS-1.701'
historyOutputName = 'U2'
session.odbs[fileName].steps[stepName].historyRegions[historyRegionName]
I'm having problem with the following problem. The encircled portion of the figure is giving me trouble. I am getting confused on how to correlate it with reference frame oxyz. please help.
what is the significance of distance r for calculating angular velocity of the reference axis oxyz?
I need to find out the components of the absolute acceleration of O along ox,oy& oz.
I'm trying to investigate the effect of multiple support excitation (spatially varying ground motion) on seismic response of an arch dam using ADINA, so i need to apply different acceleration (and velocity and displacement) time histories on every node on structure-foundation interface.
Hi all,
I've to model a gearbox in the transitory (acceleration) and in the
stationary (constant speed) running: i'm not sure abut the kind of step
to use.
I'm gonna find contact pressure and stress in both case.
What about using static step for both?

Dear Colleagues,
We would like to share our thoughts about our approach to Robust Design Optimization and our way how we sufficiently increase the speed of solution of RDO problems in full stochastic statement with the involvement of probability objectives and adaptive surrogate model construction tools.
We will present this theory during our joint Webinar with Ansys: The link to on-line Webinar registration…
Please see the details in the attached PDF
Dear all Researchers,
I am writing regarding for the first time about the UAA(Unified analytical aspect) on Fatigue crack growth. The idea of this technique is this question : too many fatigue life prediction relations but still those are not perfect. on the other hand, new math ways still have not been the classical fracture mechanics. I am looking for some comments as response to this concern. Clearly, how we upgrade fracture mechanics theory using atomistic development in modeling fatigue propagation?
Let us talk about this.
Regards,
