Twitter and iMechanica

Submitted by MichelleLOyen on

How many iMechanica users are on Twitter?  And how many are on Twitter with professional contacts?

I started to use Twitter about 4 months ago in a completely social, non-professional context.  As a personal (expat-focussed) blogger, I started to notice that I was
catching blog posts in my Twitter feed before I would see them in my
feed aggregator (Bloglines).   Twitter has emerged as a different sort
of feed aggregator, as well as a provider of information.

Plasticity and elasticity questions

Submitted by hiader k. mahbes on
 Dear All
I has question about these stresses.
1.Are deviatoric stress generate plastic deformation?
2. Are hydrostatic stress generate plastic deformation?
3.What is the advantage of transferring strain tenser orientation to the principle coordinate axes?
4. What is the difference between rupture and fracture stress?

Particle size and debonding stress

Submitted by CeciliaPisano on

Hi everybody,

do you know where I can find some informations about the relation

between particle size and critical normal stress at the interface particle /matrix

for a particle embedded in a matrix?

I read the Chen's article 'Size effect of particles on the damage dissipation in nanocomposites'

but this article deals with spherical particles. I am studying clay/matrix nanocomposites and I would like to

calculate the relation between clay size and debonding stress.

Mini-Symposium on Electro-Active Materials at WCCM IX

Submitted by Serdar Goktepe on

Dear Colleagues,

We like to draw your attention to the mini-symposium

MS6043 - Computational Mechanics of Electro-Active Materials

organized by Prof. Ellen Kuhl, Prof. Andreas Menzel and myself in the

WCCM IX. The abstract outlining the objectives of this integrative

mini-symposium is enclosed to this post as plain text and also as a

pdf-attachment.
