composite material

Submitted by sowmya on

Is it possible to find out the number of cycles to failure for a composite material(glass-epoxy) in ansys, with the data known only for material properties, layup, fibre orientaion? The beam (i.e.solid 191 taken for analysis of composite) is to be considered to be given a displacment at one end.

KINDLY HELP ME OUT BY GIVING THE DETAILED PROCEDURE

Loading X, Y, and strain data from multiple files in Tecplot 360

Submitted by S U Khan on

Dear All

I am using tecplot to visualize my data. Now I came across a problem as I have three files (created using Matlab). Each file is having a big matrix having data. One file is having X coordiates, second one is having Y coordinates and third one is having the strain data of these two coordinates. I like to import and plot contour using this data. It will be nice if some one can guide me in this matter.

hi all,

im doing m.tech structures,i ve doubt abt nonlinear buckling of perforated plate subjected to uniform compresssion load.i diddn't get exact buckling load load in nonlinear analysis,my problem is how to load vs displacement curve.plz help me.

The History of Another Dimension - 50 Years of Bentley's V8 Engine

Submitted by Martin Pratt on

Dr Ulrich Eichhorn's lecture covers the original design and development of the Bentley V8 engine, from its introduction in 1959, in their S2 model, through to its present day form in the newly launched Bentley Brooklands coupe.

With contributions from several senior figures involved with the engine's creation and evolution over the last 50 years, the talk will describe how a well thought out concept and its careful execution have carried the design through to 2009, while other contemporaries have long since fallen by the wayside.

What is the Difference betweeen Stress and Pressure?

Submitted by erpankajgulati on

Stress is the property of the body under loads. It is defined as a sort of reaction produced by the molecules of the body under some action which tends to produce some deformation. this intensity of these additional forces produced per unit area is known as stress.

Pressure is defined as force per unit area applied to an object in a direction perpendicular to the surface.

Is it fine?

Perturbation technique based on forward difference approximation

Submitted by Andreas Burger on

Hi,

I am trying to implement (in Abaqus) the elasticity tensor using a numerical approach.  I have come across a paper by C.Miehe (Numerical computation of algorithmic (consistent) tangent moduli in large-strain computational inelasticity, 1996).

There are a few things I don't quite understand.
