CSI is looking to hire a talented engineering software developer for finite element based structural engineering software. Job listing below. Applicants should be sure to list relevant experience in developing engineering software, experience and/or research which would apply toward development of finite element analysis software, particularly development of material models.

 Structural Software Development Engineer
   Berkeley, CA

For all software development engineers, excellent programming skills are required, including the ability to work as part of a team and to use a variety of programming languages, especially Visual Basic/C, and development environments. Knowledge of computer graphics and graphic design skills a plus. Clear communication and writing skills are required.

Software development engineers will have either or both of the following qualifications:

(1) A Ph.D. or extensive experience in the field of structural engineering and/or structural mechanics, with a strong background in one or more of the following areas: structural dynamics, mechanics of materials, nonlinear material behavior, computational mechanics, finite element analysis, and numerical analysis of large linear and nonlinear systems.

(2) An M.S. degree in Civil Engineering and 2 or more years of experience in structural engineering practice with a strong background in Computer-aided analysis of structures, finite element analysis, structural dynamics and earthquake engineering. Knowledge of appropriate design codes is important, including international codes. Seismic and/or nonlinear design experience is useful. Familiarity with engineering terminology, workflow, and reporting requirements is required.
