A while ago, I shared news about the recent publication of our review paper titled: "Practical Application of the Stochastic Finite Element Method". The first author David Arregui-Mena, a PhD student at the University of Manchester, created a YouTube movie which summarises the content of the paper.

In this minisymposium we seek to highlight challenging problems in computational solid mechanics that require mesh adaptation methods for their solution. We focus on the finite element method and works that address large deformations and the accompanying inelasticity, damage, crack propagation and failure. Discussion will center on Lagrangian descriptions and determining the necessary computational components to resolve, preserve, and evolve the fields that govern these processes. Prototypical material systems may include, but are not limited to, ductile metals and biomaterials.

Dear all,
I am working on postbuckling of stiffened composite panels using ANSYS. I have done few experiments and trying to simulate in ANSYS. I have performed nonlinear analysis using arc length method and the load-axial displacement curve obtained is too stiff (having 60% higher slope) compared to the experimental curve. I think BCs, material properties and loading is fine in the model. Can anyone have any suggestions to improve my results?
A one-year postdoctoral position is available at the Department of Petroleum Engineering, Louisiana State University. The successful candidates are expected to possess a PhD degree in Mechanics or Civil engineering or science and have experience in the area of computational mechanics or finite elements and continuum mechanics. The candidates will be working in the area of hydraulic fracturing, poroelasticity, and mechanics applied to fluid flow in fractured porous media. Experience in damage mechanics is plus. This position is extendable for another year.
