Deadline is approaction: 10 april - "Risø Int. Symposium: Composite materials for structural performance: towards higher limits"

Submitted by Bent F. Sørensen on

The deadline for abstract submission for the 32, 10th April 2011, is approaching. The title of the 32nd Risø International Symposium on Materials Science is "Composite materials for structural performance: towards higher limits". The Symposium will be held from Monday 5th September to Friday 9th September 2011 at Risoe DTU - National Laboratory for Sustainable Energy, Technical University of Denmark, 4000 Roskilde, Denmark. We think this is an exciting Symposium theme and we are proud to present a great list of key-note presentations:

ICoBT 2011 - Call for paper - deadline 15 April 2011

Submitted by Laure Ballu on

3 weeks left to submit your abstract for the International Conference on BioTribology (ICoBT 2011).

The topic of research must include a biological surface as part of the interface (eg articular cartilage, skin), have a direct impact on biological function (eg prosthetic joints, dental implants), or involve the implementation of natural lubrication in man-made systems (biomimetics).

For mor information or to submit your abstract, please go to www.biotribologyconference.com

cohesive simulation in abaqus

Submitted by manivannan on

Hi all ,

I am simulating Cohesive zone simulation of polymer coated steel using abaqus 6.9 ( Room Temp ).  The thickness of steel plate is 0.8mm ( 800 Micrometre). Thickness of PET ( Poly Polyethylene terephthalate ) is 0.03 mm ( 30 micrometre ). Cohesive zone is defined in between these two materials with zero thickness. I use standard traction seperation method embedded in abaqus 6.9. I have the following questions

PACAM XII-Second call for mini-symposia proposals

Submitted by Adrian Lew on

This is the second call for mini-symposia proposals for the Twelfth Pan

American Congress of Applied Mechanics (PACAM XII). The deadline for

proposals is March 30, 2011. Only one week left!

We welcome mini-symposia proposals in any area of Applied Mechanics, as

described in the conference website www.pacamxii.org.

The conference will be held in Port of Spain, Trinidad from January 2 – 6,

2012, in collaboration with the University of the West Indies, St.

Augustine.

Two postdocs at U. Pittsburgh

Submitted by velankar on

Two post-doctoral positions are available in the lab of Sachin Velankar in the Dept. of Chemical Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh to conduct experimental research on the biomechanics of surface texturing in cephalopods (octopus or cuttlefish), and to devise reversibly-morphing surfaces.  These animals are famous for their camouflage abilities.  Like many other animals, cephalopods can change their color, but in addition, they can also change the texture of their skin by expressing protuberances or wrinkles.

How to model a composite plate in ANSYS?

Submitted by Hamid Keshavarzi on

Hi friends,

I'm going to model a composite plate in ansys but I have few information about it. I need to know the exact procedure of selecting material ID and attributing to lay-ups and also to mesh the domain. This is a 5 layer laminate to analyse uniaxial buckling. I would be thankful for providing me with your friendly notes.

All the best,

ANSYS crack propagation(growth) under cycle load simulation.

Submitted by Leem SangHyuck on

I want to simulate the crack growth under cycle load through ANSYS

I have thought two way to simulate it, first way is cohesive model(debonding)

second way is remesh(rezone at certain load step), this way is important for me, since this method mapsolves the new mesh into the old mesh, so the plastic strain information near crack tip element could transfer to new mesh.

I need a example file(code-command file of ansys) or comment
