1 PhD position for 3 years in computational mineral physics is
opening at UMET, University of Lille, France within the framework of the
ERC-funded project RheoMan “Multiscale modeling of the rheology of the mantle” (see
www.rheoman.eu)

The successful candidate will work on multiscale modeling of
dislocations and plasticity in MgSiO3 perovskite. Magnesium silicate perovskite
is the dominant phase of the lower mantle and its rheology largely controls the
viscosity of the lower mantle.

The position can be filled from June 2012.

Requirements: Master diploma or equivalent in condensed
matter physics or materials science, mineralogy or similar. Experience in
computational is of advantage.

Applications are invited to:

Prof. Patrick Cordier
