The Department of Engineering Mechanics at Shanghai Jiao Tong University is seeking outstanding individuals for faculty positions in the general area of mechanics. The Mechanics program at SJTU is one of the state key disciplines, and it now has about 50 faculty members. The research areas in the department are primarily as follows: high-speed hydrodynamics, environmental fluid mechanics, computational fluid dynamics, mechanical behavior of advanced materials and structures, fracture/fatigue and interface mechanics, micro/nanomechanics and biomechanics, intelligent structures and composite mechanics, inverse problem and damage diagnosis, multi-system dynamics and control, spacecraft dynamics, non-linear dynamics, vibration and control, interface mechanics, etc. The department is undergoing a period of dynamic development and looking to strengthen and expand the above mentioned research areas.
Applicants must have a doctoral degree in Engineeringor related discipline, with research focus in mechanics-related topics. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to teaching in both the graduate and undergraduate levels and establish a viable research program in his/her expertise area.
