2015 EMI International Conference

The Engineering Mechanics Institute (EMI) of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) will organize the first international conference in Hong Kong. The 2015 EMI International Conference of ASCE will be held at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in its beautiful downtown Kowloon campus on January 7-9, 2015 and will be chaired by Prof. K.T. Chau.

The theme of this conference is "Mechanics for Civil Engineers Against Natural Hazards". The conference program will make the event a forum where engineers from Asian and Pacific countries would play a greater role and mechanicians will contribute their expertise to build civil structures that are resilient to natural hazards, including storm surges, hurricanes, typhoons, earthquakes, tsunamis, landslides, debris flows, and flooding.

Invited topics include all aspects of engineering mechanics, including biomechanics, computational mechanics, dynamics, elasticity, experimental analysis and instrumentation, fluid dynamics, granular materials, mechanics of pavements, modeling inelasticity and multiscale behavior, nanomechanics and micromechanics, poromechanics, probabilistic methods, properties of materials, stability, and structural monitoring and control. Conference topics include man-made and natural hazards, landslides and slope stability, flooding and debris flows, tsunami and storm surges, earthquake engineering, wind engineering, fluid-structure interaction, life-cycle performance, soil-structure interactions, aging/deterioration/retrofitting, smart structures in hazard mitigation, geomechanics, fracture mechanics for cementitious materials, boundary element method, and meshless methods.
