IMECE 2016: Student Travel Awards and Best Paper Contest

Dear IMECE Attendees:

The Applied Mechanics Executive Committee (AMD-EC) is pleased to announce the 2016 IMECE student travel award and best paper competition.

Students can self-nominate and are required to send a brief one-page CV, a recommendation letter from the students' advisor, the abstract of a paper accepted for presentation at IMECE in Track 12 or a symposium sponsored by the AMD, and a draft presentation. Please note that, at the time of the award presentation, the applicant must be enrolled full-time in a degree program at a US institution. A faculty member may not endorse more than one student. The nominations will be reviewed by the AMD-EC. Between 10 to 15 students will be selected for travel grants of $1000 each.

The pool of students receiving travel awards will also become eligible to participate in the best paper contest. The top three will be selected for awards of $500, $300 and $200.

Dates:

April 30, 2016: Submit the nominations to Professor B. Balachandran (balab@umd.edu) along with the CVs (one page), abstract (500 words), recommendation letter and a draft presentation (no more than 15 slides).

August 1 (tentative), 2016: Announcement of recipients of the travel awards.

November 1, 2016: Travel awardees submit their final presentations.

November 2016: Announcement of contest winners at the AMD Awards Banquet at IMECE 2016.
