Transportation Network Controllability PhD studentship in the Department of Computational Engineering Sciences at the University of Luxembourg
There is a PhD position in Computational Engineering and Science offered at the MobiLab Transport Research Group of the University of Luxembourg! We look for a passionate researcher who wants to study network controllability in transportation systems for 3(+1) years. If you are interested go to http://emea3.mrted.ly/1gy60
Controllability of Transportation Networks
This doctoral research project explores the interaction between the location and configuration of controllers in a transportation network and the best level of performance reachable by advanced Dynamic Traffic Management solutions (e.g. intelligent traffic lights, dynamic road pricing, …). In this project, the candidate will investigate this aspect by developing a framework encompassing transportation, control theory and optimization.
The PhD topic is strongly related with a previous stream of research carried out by the Principal Investigator, which dealt extensively with the concept of observability in transportation networks. The work performed in this project will no doubt take advantage of the algorithms and solutions already contributed to the state of the art in this parallel research branch, and a fundamental integration between the two topics is certainly expected.
