Ph.D. Position in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology at NJIT

Professor Sun’s group ( seeks highly motivated Ph.D candidates (with full financial support) and visiting students/scholars with a strong passion for nanoscience and nanotechnology. Students/scholars with background in multidisciplinary areas of Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or any related areas are welcome to contact Prof. Sun through email at and include your CV, a brief statement of your interests related to our research. Candidates with experience in (but not limited to) one or more of the following areas are particularly encouraged to apply:(1) nanomaterials synthesis and characterization; (2) 3D manufacturing (3D printing); (3) energy materials for energy storage and thermal management.

Professor Sun is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). Prior to joining NJIT, he was a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at UCLA. He received his Ph.D. in the Department of Mechanical Aerospace and Nuclear Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. His research lies at the intersection of energy science, advanced materials and nanomanufacturing. Dr. Sun has published >35 peer-reviewed papers in leading journals with a total citation number over 2,500 and an h-index of 25. His publications include Science, Nature Communications, Nature Catalysis (cover), Advanced Materials, Advanced Functional Materials and Nano Letter.
