Interquadrennial Conference of the International Congress of Fracture, Bangalore, India, August 3-7 2008
An Interquadrennial Conference of the International Congress of Fracture will be held at Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore from August 3 to August 7, 2008. The objective of this conference is to bring together eminent scientists as well as young researchers from around the world in order to discuss recent developments and future directions on research pertaining to fracture and fatigue. The scope of the conference is quite broad and it will address a variety of issues pertaining to ductile and brittle fracture, non-traditional materials like bulk metallic glasses and functionally graded materials, geomaterials, earthquake mechanics and multi-scale and multi-physics models.
This conference will also be a part of the activities related to the celebration of the Centennial Year of Indian Institute of Science. Furthermore, the city of Bangalore has emerged as one of the most important centers of science and engineering in India with research centers of many leading multinational companies such as General Motors, General Electric Company and Safran Aerospace as well as the National Laboratories of India such as the National Aerospace Laboratories and the Indian Space Research Organization’s Satellite Centre. Thus, the ICF-Interquadrennial Conference in Bangalore will benefit many young scientists and students and will provide a tremendous impetus to research on fracture and fatigue.
