An Interquadrennial Conference of the International Congress of Fracture will be held at Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore from August 3 to August 7, 2008. The objective of this conference is to bring together eminent scientists as well as young researchers from around the world in order to discuss recent developments and future directions on research pertaining to fracture and fatigue. The scope of the conference is quite broad and it will address a variety of issues pertaining to ductile and brittle fracture, non-traditional materials like bulk metallic glasses and functionally graded materials, geomaterials, earthquake mechanics and multi-scale and multi-physics models.

This conference will also be a part of the activities related to the celebration of the Centennial Year of Indian Institute of Science.
