Open PhD positions in fracture and size effects in composites at Stony Brook University
Open PhD positions are available in the Materials and Mechanics Lab, in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Stony Brook University. The research will involve analyzing fracture and size effects in fiber reinforced composites.
The desired start date is Fall 2021.
The preferred qualifications for the position are:
1. Masters degree in a relevant field with an excellent overall academic record
2. Strong background and publication record in solid mechanics
3. Experience in material characterization and testing and/or
4. Experience in using FEA software such as ABAQUS and user material subroutines e.g. UMAT/VUMAT
