Applications are invited for a 2-year postdoctoral fellowship in the area of advanced characterization of energy materials. This position is a full-time position at the University of Western Ontario, Canada, and the selected applicant can start effective immediately.
The aim of the project is to use in-situ experimental techniques, e.g., diffraction or imaging, to characterize the mechanical properties and fracture of all-solid-state batteries. Candidates with relevant experience in micro or macroscale numerical modeling of all-solid-state batteries will also be considered.
The selected applicant will have access to the state-of-the-art facilities for the manufacturing of all-solid-state batteries that are located at the Mechanical & Materials Engineering Department at the University of Western Ontario. They will have access to high resolution SEM/EBSD systems as well as XRD, XPS, and ALD facilities.
Applicants will be assessed based on how they meet the following criteria:
· Excellent degree in the relevant discipline, e.g., all-solid-state batteries
· Excellent written and spoken communication skills
The following qualities are desirable:
· Ability to conduct in-situ experiments e.g., in SEM or at synchrotron X-ray or neutron facilities.
· Ability to conduct numerical modeling, e.g., finite element.
· Ability to program in MATLAB or other programming languages
· Ability to work in a collaborative environment
