The Energy Resources Recovery & Management Department at the Idaho National Laboratory invites applications for one, or possibly two, post-doctoral research positions in the broad area of computational subsurface science, including areas such as: 1. Modeling and simulation of coupled thermal-hydro-mechanical problems in subsurface and its application in geothermal reservoirs;2. Computational geomechanics in general. Both continuum scale finite element (volume) modeling and discrete element methods for rock/reservoir engineering are welcome. 3. Modeling and simulation of multiphase flow and reactive transport in fractured and porous media;

The position(s) are available for immediate hire and run through September 2012. The minimum requirements for the position(s) are a recent PhD in hydrogeology, computational mechanics, or computer science/applied mathematics with extensive experience in computer modeling and simulation, C++ and FORTRAN programming, and numerical methods. The ideal candidate will have experience in high performance computing. Applicants should send a CV and summary of research interests by email to vanessa.vandyk@inl.gov.
