A summer internship position is available in Joint academic-industrial project between Nordisch LLC and Michigan State University. We seeks to improve the understanding of the constitutive behavior of soft materials in extreme conditions. In particular, this is important for evaluating the long-term performance of soft materials that are used as critical components in various systems.

PhD position(s) is available immediately in the Engineering Mechanics program in Aerospace Engineering Department at Iowa State University to perform theoretical and computational part of work on NSF-funded projects on the interaction between phase transformations and plasticity. Novelty/impact/significance

Constitutive models are of fundamental importance to many biomedical problems such as the rupture prediction of aortic aneurysms. Existing structure-based constitutive models such as the widely used Gasser–Ogden–Holzapfel (GOH) model usually need to specify the number of fiber family which may be difficult to identify for many kinds of tissues. In this study, we developed a novel hyperelastic model for biological tissues by considering a fiber distribution as a whole distribution which does not need the information of the number of fiber family.
