I would like to bring to your attention a faculty opening at the University of Texas at Austin, Fariborz Maseeh Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering, which might be of interest to recent PhD graduates, or graduating PhDs of your program. Specifically, we are looking to add to our faculty a colleague with expertise in the engineering of habitats in extreme environments: of particular interest, and strongly advised to apply, are candidates with expertise in the engineering of extraterrestrial habitats.

The Department of Mechanical, Industrial and Systems Engineering invites applications at the Assistant Professor level from outstanding individuals with demonstrated expertise or research potential in Advanced Solid Mechanics applied to Extreme Environments. Specific areas of interest include, but are not limited to, loading of materials as a result of in-air or underwater blast or explosion, implosion of structures, impact mechanics, dynamic response of materials under extreme temperatures or pressures, saline or maritime conditions, and dynamic fracture fragmentation. Applicants are expected to have either a strong experimental background, or be expert in the computational modeling of solids under extreme loading conditions.
