The Dynamic Response and Evaluation of a Flare Storage Container during Slow Cook-off using Abaqus Explicit – CEL - 2012

Submitted by SIMULIA on

In the case of accidental ignition, ammunition containers are designed to fail in a way that minimizes danger to nearby personnel. In the constant effort to improve the performance and safety of such containers, extensive experimental testing is required to assess new or modified designs.

Fluid-Structure Interaction Simulations of Rocket Engine Side Loads - 2012

Submitted by SIMULIA on

The goal of this work was to simulate both the flow in a rocket engine nozzle and the resulting flow-induced transient loads on the nozzle. This unsteady nozzle flow results in structural dynamic excitation, which contributes not only to nozzle stress and deformation but also to the dynamic loads that are transmitted to the rest of the engine.

CAE-based Optimization Methodology for Stamping Process of Deep Drawn Automotive Component - 2012

Submitted by SIMULIA on

This study demonstrates how to arrive at optimum

values of forming process parameters viz. blank size and blank holding force. An Abaqus based stamping process template has been developed with an objective to achieve desired quality of deep-drawn components.

Snow Load Simulation Correlationof the Light Commercial Vehicles - 2012

Submitted by SIMULIA on

In this study, the analysis parameters have been investigated and a correlation with physical test results has been set. This test is much more important for a light commercial vehicle (LCV) because LCV has bigger roof area, more straight style and as a result of these two properties it has heavier roof panel than the other vehicle.

3-D Finite Element Analysis of Instrumented Indentation of Transversely Isotropic Materials - 2012

Submitted by SIMULIA on

In this study finite element computations are conducted using Abaqus to simulate indentation of transversely isotropic materials. Indentation simulation is carried out both perpendicular and parallel to the plane of isotropy using a 70.3 degree cone half-angle indenter.

Accurate Finite Element Simulations of PTFE Components - 2012

Submitted by SIMULIA on

This presentation demonstrate how all of the experimentally observed behaviors of this important material can be accurately simulated using Abaqus. Particular emphasis will be placed on the material model

selection and calibration.

Structural Optimization of a Transversal Rolling Mill Component to Improve Flexional Stiffness - 2012

Submitted by SIMULIA on

The structural component investigated is a roll mill bar which sustain a plug for atransversal rolling of steel pipes. The improvement of the stiffness of this component is the target of the simulation to achieve the desired flexional displacement. An optimization tool is used to achieve the target in a proper and fast way.

Topology Optimization of Nacelle Components with ATOM - 2012

Submitted by SIMULIA on

In this paper we identify two components as candidates for weight reduction. In order to achieve this goal without sacrificing the current performance of these components we use ATOM optimization software

within Abaqus environment.

Development of Realistic Simulation Techniques to Predict Cure-Induced Microcracking in 3D Woven Composites - 2012

Submitted by SIMULIA on

The main goal of this study is to improve the understanding of cure-induced microcracking through the development of realistic numerical models validated with experimental data. Specifically, microcracking predictions of unit cell FEA models of two different fiber architectures are compared with results of micro-computed tomography scans of actual panels with the same fiber architectures.
