high strain rate simulation in abaqus

can anyone tell me how to perform high strain rate simulation in abaqus.

Submitting number of job at once in Abaqus

To solve several consecutive run automatically by abaqus can get help from the following program:

http://mmd110.persiangig.com/Abaqus/abqscript.bat

First file in the file path. Inp place available.

Then run the file name. Inp file and cpu, and the amount of RAM required by the MB session.

Inp file name (without extension and tandem) and enter them below, separated by a space.

Note: Before entering the first name inp file, insert a space.

Search for a suggestion for Abaqus question

Choose a channel featured in the header of iMechanica:

Dear all,

I want to achieve these procedures in abaqus, but I did not know how to do it, could you give me some suggestions?

In the first step, discretize the structure by the transport mesh and run transport analysis for the structure.

In the second step, using the results (stored in the user defined field), discretize the structure by the stress mesh(normal stress analysis), and run the stress analysis.

Underlying Material Response for Lüders-Like Instabilities

► The underlying material response of partially unstable materials is measured. ► This is done for Lüders deformed steel and a shape memory alloy. ► They both exhibit an up-down-up response. ► The extracted responses used in numerical models reproduce the structural responses.

Bifurcation Analysis in Abaqus

Hello Everyone,

Im relatively new to Abaqus and I have to carry out a bifurcation analysis of a pipe. Once that is done I need to add the imperfection wavelength and amplitude calculated to the pipe and carry out further simulations.

Ive been trying very hard to get a direction as to where to start with it. Can anyone please help me with it? I know that you need to carry out a buckle analysis that will give you a wrinkle pattern on the pipe. This inturn will add up to the bifurcation scheme that you get.

Varying Yield Strength through depth in Abaqus

Hi,

I am trying to create a material model in Abaqus such that I have a varying yield strength through the depth (y-coordinate). I want a model which has maximum yield strength at the top surface and gradually goes on decreasing with y-coordinate. Is there a way to do this? Any help/insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Regards,

Deepak Patil

Thermomechanical coupled simulation

Hi all,

I am trying to input a termperature field as initial conditions in
abaqus, to use the temperature distribution from a previous temperature
simulation in an mechanical simulation. But when I check the Temperature
values in the mechanical simulation i get great differences between the
nodal values (NT) and the element values (TEMP).

Does anybody know the reason of this problem?

Can it be related to the element typ? So the TEMP values are the avereged values from NT?

Kind regards!

ABAQUS model of polycrystal plasticity

Hi everyone

I am learning the polycrystalline crystal plasticity and testing material in ABAQUS and UMAT. Now I am trying to build a RVE by using the truncated octahedrons as the grain shape or Voronoi tessellations.

For truncated octahedrons, I built a truncated octahedrons and assembled them into the grain aggregate in the .inp file, and assign orientations in the UMAT based on the part's name. However, I found it hard to define their interaction between grains. What is their interaction properties and how to define the contact pair in an automatic way?

selecting suface nodes in orphan mesh by python script????

Choose a channel featured in the header of iMechanica:

Hi,

I have a 3D orphan mesh in abaqus and I need to select a group of nodes that belong to the orphan mesh and that would have been on a 3D surface of the parent solid before it was orphaned.

I know how to do this in Abaqus/CAE, but I don't konw how to realize it using python scripts. If there is a method, just like using "findAt()" to select a surface by coordinates , to select all the nodes on a outer surface of the orphan mesh and to select all orphan elements?

Any tips on selecting exterior nodes on one side of an orphan mesh ??

XFEM in Abaqus

Hi

I am new to modelling and am trying to model a plate with a middle crack using Abaqus.

What is the difference between modelling a cohesive and LEFM crack growth (I know cohesive involves plasticity and the traction/displacement curve and LEFM is for brittle materials).

For cohesive, I used max principal stress for damage criteria and damage evolution based on energy criteria.

Abaqus Help

Hello everyone. I am new to Abaqus and was wondering how to create a model of a heat sink mounted on a heated silicon dioxide substrate. The substrate is on the left side and is a rectangle with a height of 40 mm and width of 5 mm. The heat sink is connected to the right of that with a parrellelogram shape, left side height of 40 mm (adjacent to the substrate), and right side parallel with a height of 5 mm. If anyone can help it is greatly appreciated. When I try modeling it, during section assignments it will not allow me to assign any sections. I have attached a picture of the model.

Cutting process simulation in Abaqus

Hello ,

I am working on a project using abaqus to
simulate miling process. As the first stage, I have to be able to simulate cutting process in Abaqus. I have looked up Abacus 6.11 documentaion a lot but did not find too much of usefull information. Could any one kindly give some hints how to develop such model or introduce me some usefull complete resources?

Regards,

Reza
