Positions for PhD students

Submitted by Peng-Cheng Ma on

Two positions for PhD students are available in Prof. Peng-Cheng Ma’s group in The Xinjiang Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). The institute is one of the research unites affiliated to the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and it locates in Urumqi, China, a city with distinctively historic and cultural atmosphere. Major research activities in the group are: i) Carbon-based materials for structural and functional applications; 2) Polymer-based nanocomposites for engineering and environmental applications.

Faculty Position - Solid Mechanics - Stony Brook University

Submitted by Lifeng Wang on

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Stony Brook University has a tenure-track faculty position open in Solid Mechanics.

Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

Preferred Qualifications: Candidates in the area of Solid Mechanics, with emphasis on composite materials. An experimental background is preferred. Highly qualified candidates in other areas of solid mechanics will also be considered.

Post-doctoral positions at National University of Singapore (NUS) and Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD)

Submitted by Shailendra on

Starting April 2016, we will have openings for two post-doctoral fellow positions in experimental and computational mechanics of advanced polymers. These positions will support a new research program between Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) and National University of Singapore (NUS) funded by Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR). The project focuses on synthesizing, characterizing, modeling, and simulating the thermo-mechanical behavior of polymers with covalent adaptable networks (CANs), e.g. vitrimers.

PhD Positions in Computational Mechanics and Experimental Biomechanics - University of Illinois at Chicago

Submitted by Hamed Hatami on

We are looking for candidates for doctoral positions in the areas of a) computational mechanics, and b) experimental biomechanics.

Candidates must have earned a M.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering or in a related field from an accredited University.

Candidates with strong background in numerical simulations (e.g. C++ and FORTRAN programming skills, finite element analysis, and high performance computing) and previous experience in experimental characterization of tissues are highly desirable.

New permanent position at DTU: Senior Researcher/Researcher in Fatigue of Composite Materials

Submitted by Bent F. Sørensen on

A Senior Researcher/Researcher position is available at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), at the Department of Wind Energy in the Section of Composites and Materials Mechanics. The Section consists of about 30 people and has modern laboratories for manufacturing and mechanical testing of composite materials. Research is conducted in research projects usually with external national or international collaboration. The research focusses on composites materials consisting of long, aligned fibres in a polymer matrix for use in wind turbine blades.
