Dear Members,
I am looking for Researcher, Ass. Prof. or Post. Doc position in the field of Fatigue and fracture of ferrous and non-ferrous metals and its alloys.
There is an immediate opening for a postdoctoral research position in the Advanced Computational Research Lab at RPI, Troy, NY to work on a multiscale modeling project which involves modeling of radiaiton damage of metallic materials. Encouraged to apply are creative, self-motivated candidates with a sound background in computational mechanics. Desired qualifications: (1) PhD in Computational/Applied Mechanics/ Materials Science.
Two PhD studentships opportunities are available at the Universite catholique de
Louvain in Belgium for outstanding candidates.
The aim of the project is to develop a novel approach for generating
dominant hex meshes for general/complex 3D models. The approach will be based
both a generalisation of Lloyd's algorithm and on the resolution of some kind of
PDE in the domain in order to compute distances, curvatures, surface
geodesics... We look here for an indirect approach i.e. we first generate the
points and then reconnect them. All the developments will be done in the
framework of gmsh (http://www.geuz.org/gmsh).
Successfull candidates should have a strong background in applied
mathematics/numerical methods for CFD. Some knownledge of mesh generation
THE JOB POSITION HAS BEEN FILLED. PLEASE DO NOT SEND APPLICATION.
Cenaero (http://www.cenaero.be/ ) and ULB-BATir (Université Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium, http://www.ulb.ac.be/smc/) jointly propose a PhD position entitled: "Reduced order modeling and surrogate-based optimization for turbomachinery blade design" (4-year contract).
PhD position is available at
Iowa State University to perform work on NSF-funded project on phase-field
modeling of stress-induced phase transformations using FEM. Position can be
either in Engineering Mechanics program in Aerospace Engineering Department (preferable)
or in Material Science and Engineering Department. Please send vita to Prof.
Valery Levitas (vlevitas [at] iastate.edu (vlevitas[at]iastate[dot]edu)).
The Interdisciplinary Centre for Advanced Materials Simulation (ICAMS) is a new research centre at the
RuhrUniversity Bochum, Germany. At ICAMS an interdisciplinary team of scientists from engineering,
materials science, chemistry, physics and mathematics is working on the development and application
of a new generation of simulation tools for multiscale materials modelling.
Postdoctoral and Graduate Assistant Positions are
immediately available to work on phase-field simulations of phase
transformations and microstructure evolution in metallic alloys or
oxides. Strong background in mechanics and thermodynamics of of solid
microstructures is a plus. If interested, please email a resume to

All,
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Catholic University of America (Washington DC) offers yearly a Fellowship to attract new Ph.D. students to the program. This Fellowship is currently available.
