Our department of Mechanical Engineering-Engineering Mechanics (MEEM) at Michigan Tech is currently searching for outstanding new colleagues in space technology, aerospace technology, NVH, acoustics/noise control, composites, and electric vehicles. Still, we are also open to other fields. We are currently looking to fill tenure-track positions at all levels.  Finding and encouraging talented senior graduate students, postdocs, and colleagues to apply for opportunities is challenging. 

Given our substantial growth over the past few years, MatchID deems the time right to expand our horizon and evolve from a spin-off towards a truly international scaled-up company. To that purpose we will establish a US subsidiary that will not only give us a local physical presence, but also help convey more directly our philosophy to potential customers for a widespread range of applications and market verticals.

A funded PhD position in Civil Engineering is available at Politecnico di Milano on the topic “AGRIVOLTAICS: INTEGRATED STRUCTURAL OPTIMIZATION AND DATA ANALYTICS FOR DECARBONIZATION AND SMART AGRICULTURE”; a brief account of motivation and objectives, and of methods and techniques to develop are reported below.

Dr Yunlan Zhang has two funded PhD positions in structural engineering at the Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering, focusing on mechanical metamaterials and advanced structures: computational modelling, additive manufacturing, and experimental testing. Students who are interested in developing innovative materials and structures are invited to apply to join my Lab.

We have several openings for a PhD positions. The successful candidate will conduct original research in the general area of biomechanics and fluid dynamics. They develop numerical methods to model coupled processes on high-performance computing platforms. This position is in the Gomez Research Group (https://engineering.purdue.edu/gomez/) in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue.

Applications

Dr. Wentao Yan's group at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, National University of Singapore (NUS), focuses on metal additive manufacturing: computational modeling, experimental investigation and data analytics. We have been extensively studying the process-structure-property relationships of additive manufacturing, and have made some interesting progresses (recently won 9 awards in 2022 NIST AM-Bench Simulation Challenge). More details about the group can be found in http://blog.nus.edu.sg/yanwt/

The Department of Applied Mathematics at Illinois Institute of Technology invites applications for a postdoctoral fellowship in computational mathematics.   The appointment is for one year with the possibility of renewal for an additional year.  Priority is given to applicants with research expertise and interest in computational mechanics, numerical methods and applications in materials, biology and data science.
