As announced in the last year, the Sixth M.I.T. Conference on Computational Fluid and Solid Mechanics will be held in June 2011 at M.I.T. The theme of the Conference is "Solids & Structures", and the topic is interpreted in a very broad way.
The Centre for Advanced Materials at the British University in Egypt is organizing an international workshop on Advanced Materials for Wind Turbine Blades. This workshop is partially funded by the European Commission under Eu-Egypt Innivation Fund and comes in collaboration with the International Institute for Multifunctional Materials for Energy Conversion (IIMEC), Texas A&M, USA.
Minisymposium on Multiscale Computation and Modeling of Microstructural Defects in Materials (symposium 9.2)

This symposium (11.4) will address the use of new computational techniques (from atomic to continuum scale) to uncover fundamental science in materials interfaces and their role in mechanical properties. Theoretical and computational advances as well as the application of existing methods to new cases where interface information is important (e.g. nanograined materials) are in the scope of this session.
