Material Orientation UMAT

Hi,

I have a bicrystal with 2 material orientations in Euler Angles. How do I assign them to my Abaqus Input file? I am using Dr Huang's code for CP. After going through several forums, I understood that I have to create a card with *ORIENTATION entry.

This is what I am trying to do:

Its not quite clear to me. Could anyone please please simplify and explain how I could do the same? Thanks a lot!

initial particle distribution in SPH

Submitted by ialcantara on

I wonder how important the initial set up for a Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics simulation is. Is the initial particle distribution somehow significant for the final result? How to control particle density and distribution along problem domain? What are the important factors inherent to the initial set up? Having control over the initial set up is going against the philosophy of this method?

J integral estimation in ABAQUS

Submitted by f.fantoni002 on

Dear all,

I am a Ph.D student. I am trying to calculate the value of the j-integral for a 3D penny shaped crack embeddee in a continuum linear elastic solid using ABAQUS.

the first difficulty that I have met is that j-integral values are negative forr some nodes along the crack front.

I am pretty sure that the value of the normal to the crack front that I have used is correct.

Do you know some other reason for that?

Mechanical Engineering Technology: Clean Energy And Linear Motion Mechanism

Submitted by Jigar Y. Patel on

You can see two sliders. I apply force using one slider to another slider. Best part is one slider move little bit

and helps second slider

to slide 6 times length at 70 % force.

For More information please visit http://mechanicalresearch.info/

Energy Used to move first slider=force*distance

=100N*0.05m

=5Nm

Energy Get on Other Slider= Force*Distance

=Force applied by first slider*cos(45`)*distance

=100*0.7*0.25

=17.5

Discussion of fracture paper #9 - Crack tip modelling

Dear Reader,

I recently took over as the ESIS blog editor. Being the second in this baton relay, I will do my best to live up to the good reader expectations that have been established by my precursor, who is also one of the instigators of the blog, Wolfgang Brocks.

Hello,

I qould like to represent a State Variable of my Abaqus UMAT with a vector field. Is it possible to do that? How do I proceed?

Thank you in advance!
