RECENT DEVELOPEMENTS ON THE USE OF FDM IN ELASTICITY ANALYSIS

Submitted by shuvo on

Computational field of solid mechanics is mostly dominated by FEM.   This is a well known topic.

But is it that  FDM (finite difference method) has no chance of surviving
in solid mechanics?

What are the present developments in the use of FDM in case of elasticity analysis of solid body?

I would like to mention some of the recent research works on this topic here.....

Recently a new mathematical model has been developed by Prof. S. Reaz Ahmed and his students known as the "displacement potential approach".

UEL

Dear Friends,

I have written a UEL for Strain Gradient Plasticity and is working well when i give Boundary condition as Concentrated force, But when i apply displacement boundary condition the it leads to 'system error 144'.

Iknow that system error 144 corresponds to division by zero or infinity, but then why it is coming in on displacement boundary condition is i am worried about.

I will be extremely helpful to anybody for any type of help on above problem.

Thanking you in advance
