Cohesive Elements and Soft Materials

Submitted by kvm7 on

I am working on a model in which i have a soft layer of material bonded between to rigid layers of material via cohesive elements following a linear separation-traction law based on a critical fracture energy value I determined from experimental and numerical work. I have the interlayer and cohesive elements as one part with a partitioned face and connected to the two adherends via surface-to-surface ties. I have found that my model runs successfully only if the soft interlayer material is made very stiff.

Natural Frequency Extraction in conjunction with UMAT in ABAQUS

Submitted by Vaibhav Yadav on

Hi,

We are using the user subroutine UMAT in ABAQUS for varying the material properties in a thin plate. For any static analysis this subroutine is working perfectly fine. However, while using UMAT during natural frequency extraction, ABAQUS is not completing the analysis and is giving a very vague following error message in the log file:

Finite Element Modeling On Polymer Nanocomposite with Clay Nanofiller

Submitted by ANIL KUMAR on

I'm doing Mtech project on Finite Element Modeling On Polymer Nanocomposite with Clay Nanofiller.  For that am using ABAQUS software,  so i need some information regarding that ABAQUS software, how to do finite element modeling of nanocomposites with nanofiller and How to prepare a code distrubution in the plate like particales in the polymer matrix with ABAQUS software. So please can any give information.

Effect of electrical boundary conditions on the polarization distribution around a crack in a ferroelectric single domain

Submitted by Jie Wang on

Polarization distributions around an open crack with different electrical boundary conditions in a single crystal ferroelectric are investigated by using a phase field model. The surface effect of polarization is taken into account in the phase field model, which has not been included in previous ferroelectric crack models. The simulation results show that the impermeable crack and the crack filled with air have a significant influence on the polarization distribution, while the permeable and the crack filled with water have little influence.
