Will structural disorder in amorphous material change under mechanical loading?

I would appreciate your comments or pointing to something in the literature on whether mechanical loading changes the magnitude of structural disorder (may be rdf could be a measure) in amorphous materials. Does tension increase 'amorphous-ness' and is the opposite true for compression? Since the network structure is random, should tension and compression yield the same effect (if any)?

I am assuming elastic loading/unloading only.

 Many thanks!!
