software of interest to mechanicians
Hi,
I want to know what are some useful softwares in which I can simulate multilayer coatings in terms of thermal (CTE mismatch) stresses, and stresses due to contact type loading. I am looking for softwares that are easy to use by a person like me who has an experimental background, does not have exposure to using Abaqus, but can use softwares like Matlab.

I am confused about apply BC of a model in abaqus. because I find that if I apply the accelaration of earthquake on BC, I must remove the fixed constraints applied on BC in previous step in abaqus. so the model become a free body without any constraints.

Do you know how to impose in abaqus that all the nodes of a specified surface have the same displacement on U1 for example without specifying a value. think about a traction test of a non homogeneous shell in which we want the edges to remain vertical.
I tried constraint, coupling, U1 but it fixes U1=0

This might not be a smart question to ask, but if any of you can help me, it'd be great.
I have a DCB (sandwitch specimen) with a cohesive element in the middle. Studying pure Mode I case, displacement is applied at the end of the DCB. Cohesive element works great (it fails when one reaches max separations). But I am having a difficulity in extracting crack length (i.e. length of failed cohesive element) vs time step. I looked for Damage and Status commend, but it's not promising. (I'm pretty new to ABAQUS....)

at time 0.056 , load=0
i use funtion editor by linear eqution Y=aX+b
i could not accurate result because of interpolations in ANSYS is differance then the MATHEMATICS. like
